EU health claims
Every health claim you are allowed to make
The 256 nutrition and health claims currently authorised in the EU under Regulation (EC) No 1924/2006, in one searchable list: the exact wording, what the claim has to relate to, and the conditions a product must meet before it may carry it. This is the line between what a study showed and what your label can say.
Use this list to find your way, not to sign anything off. It was compiled in September 2026 from EUR-Lex and the individual authorising Regulations, and it is reproduced here as an aid to reading. The authoritative text is the EU Register of nutrition and health claims and the Regulations cited under each entry. Two limits of this copy are worth knowing before you rely on it:
- For 24 of the 256 entries — claims added to the Annex between 2013 and 2021 — the “health relationship” line is a paraphrase of the claim written in the register's style, not the register's own wording. The source file does not mark which 24, so neither can we.
- The claim wording and the conditions of use are reproduced as supplied. Before a claim goes on a label, check it word for word against the Regulation named under the entry.
- Completeness has not been verified. This is a snapshot of one compilation, not a live mirror of the register. If a claim you expect to find is not here, that is a reason to check the register — not a finding that the claim does not exist.

How to read this
Three kinds of claim, three different bars
General function claims (Article 13) — 241 of the 256 — cover the role of a nutrient or substance in growth, development and the normal functions of the body. Most of them are the familiar ones: a vitamin “contributes to the normal function of” something.
Disease risk reduction claims (Article 14(1)(a)) — 8 of them — state that a food significantly reduces a risk factor for a disease. They are rare, each authorised by its own Regulation, and each carries mandatory wording that must appear alongside the claim.
Children's development and health claims (Article 14(1)(b)) — 7 of them — relate to children's growth and development. Same individual authorisation route, same strictness.
A claim not on this list is not authorised, whatever the evidence behind it looks like. That is the part that catches product teams out: a well-supported finding and a usable claim are two different things, and the gap between them is where our Product Concept Lab does most of its work.

Send us the formulation and the outcome you are aiming at. We will tell you which authorised claim it can support, and what would be needed to get there if none fits yet.
